Blackberry accepts Azam invite
Former Randers striker George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo is in Dar es Salaam after accepting an invitation from the Azam FC.
Odhiambo who left the Danish side in April, after his contract was mutually terminated will train with the club ahead of their last league match against Kagera Sugar FC.
“I can confirm that my client George Odhiambo left Nairobi for Dar es Salaam on Wednesday. He will be with Azam FC. He is a free agent. However, we have accepted the club’s invitation for him to train with them and meet their technical team,” his manager Ed Stoner told SuperSport.com.
The 2010 KPL Player of the Year has opted to play in Africa in order to regain his form after lack of first team football cost him his place in the national team.
Despite being linked with former club, Gor Mahia, Stoner maintains that no formal offer has been tabled yet.
Odhiambo, a free agent has not been included in Harambee Stars provisional squad that will face Malawi, Namibia and Togo in June.
Azam is second on the log with 56 points, three adrift league leaders Simba as the Vodacom Premier league enters its final stages this weekend.
